Belgrade Design District is the place full of designer shops, art galleries and concept stores where young, emerging and already established designers and artists show and sell their work right next to each other. The idea is to promote local fashion, design and art – a concept that exists in all major fashion metropolises. Placed in the heart of the city but somehow isolated from busy city streets, Design District nurture a specific atmosphere of creativity and originality. The history of Cumicevo sokace is very interesting. This is the first shopping centre in the capital, opened in the 1930s. In the last decade of the last century, it turned into an abandoned and spooky place. In 2010 a group of enthusiasts revived this city corner into an authentic place where young designers push their limits when it comes to creativity. The BDD is constantly expanding and changing gathering young Belgrade artists from different professions.
